---Bonded NdFeB: MQ-magnetic powder patent monopoly leads to low growth of industry. In the last ten years, bonded permanent magnet developed lowly, the production of it less than one over ten of sintered neodymium iron boron. There are 2 major reasons: 1) comparing with sintered magnet, the magnetic properties and mechanical strength of bonded NdFeB rare earth magnet is weak, and the scope of application is narrow. Bonded magnet is mainly applied for HDD and spindle motors of CO-ROM divers as well as vibrations and other consumer electronics fields and automobile micro motors.With the introduction of new technology and improvement of craft, we believe, the magnetic property and mechanical performance, will continuously upgrade and the range of application in field of consumer electronics as well as automobile will expand. (2) Magnequench Co. Ltd, monopolizing the component of magnet raw materials and product patent, doesn’t grant authorization to other companies. As a result of monophonic supply, the price of magnetic powder is high.

---The cost of bonded neodymium permanent magnet is expected to decline with the expiry of MQ magnet powder patent. As a monopolist, Magnequench Co. Ltd occupies 80% market shares. Its patent of component will be expired in July 2014. The price of magnetic powder is going to decline. (1) In recent several years, our country has a capacity of producing a certain scale of magnetic powder driving by domestic demand. (Domestic market is not limited by patent).According to the research of our company, domestic magnetic powder is 30%-40% cheaper than the MQ powder. If adopted our domestic magnetic powder, the cost of Bonded NdFeB would cut down 20%-30%.

---Declination of bonded neodymium rare earth magnet will bring expansion of industry. Nowadays, the scale of production of bonded NdFeB is up to 100,000 tons but, ferrite permanent magnets can reach millions of tons. You can imagine that how huge the alternative space is. The specific field of Bonded NdFeB Substituting Ferrite and Sintered magnet: with the reduction of cost and requirements of energy conservation and environmental protection, lightweight and miniaturization, bonded magnets, taking place of ferrite, can be applied to high-end field, e.g. Automotive micro-motor.
