"Energy-saving artifacts": increase motor power of high-speed rail by 60%

Ding Rongjun referred that in 2014, traction system of Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute (zelri) zelri has occupied 57% urban rail market share, and gradually the induction motor system will be replaced by permanent magnet propulsion system.

According to operation data of Shenyang Metro Line, Liu Kean developed a tally that: Energy saved annually in this way may reach to 4million Yuan. "That's profit, who can resist this?”

An industry analysis report from Liu Kean shows that by 2020, there will be about 100 urban rail transit lines built all over the country. If permanent magnet traction system were applied to 60% new lines, output value would reach 10 billion, and annual energy savings of newly operating lines will achieve 240 million Yuan.

Permanent magnet also showed strong competitive edge in central air conditioning systems. 40% energy saving can be achieved in central air conditioning of variable frequency drive system based on permanent magnetism. For a 240kW central air conditioning running 4 months a year, at least 115,200 kilowatt hours can be saved. If there were over 40000 central air conditioning systems in the country, there would be 4.6 billion kilowatt-hours saved and 460,000 tons carbon dioxide release reduced.

Since R&D started in 2009, zelri has developed successfully the world's first commercial central air conditioning based on high-speed permanent magnet direct drive system, become the only one supplier of central air conditioning with permanent magnetic drive system. Till the end of April 2015, permanent magnet drive system has been used in more than 400 central air conditioning systems. On the China Refrigeration exhibition in April this year, Gree electric appliances launched to market a central air conditioning system mounted with permanent magnet synchronous inverter heat pump centrifuge as its high-end product.

High-efficiency and energy saving achieved from Permanent magnet traction system has helped zelri hold lion ‘share of market in electric vehicle, wind power generation, 100% low floor modern trams and other fields.

As Feng Jiang-hua referred, research and development and industrial application of permanent magnet traction system is still in the initial stage. "In the future, to achieve over all layout and staying ahead in industry, zelri will on one hand vertically deepen and refine technology development, on the other hand horizontally expand the application fields of permanent magnet traction technology, to achieve a comprehensive layout and stay ahead.

The First Field Test of Permanent Magnet Composite Machine Conducted in Daqing Oil Field

Comparing with the past mobile phones, intellectual mobiles can be used to surf on the Internet, transfer documents, watch TV shows, chat on WeChat and so on. Now you have only one mobile but with all functions. If in the oil production, there is an energy-saving machine with motor of original well, speed reducer, electric control case and belt, this machine would a perfect “fighter” among motors.

Reporters learn from engineering technology team of the third oil extraction plant that they are conducting field test of permanent composite machines used in beam-pumping unit. The test aims to inspect the application effect of the “fighter” applied to oil production. The project is a test project of an oil field company, which is also the first time direct driving permanent magnet composite motor has been used in oil field. So far, 9 wells have been tested by the machine.

"We have transformed 9 pumping units and they work well. In the aspect of test result, the electric-saving rate is 20.8% and system efficiency improves 11.2%.” Liu Hongyu, a main participant says.

As a matter of fact, Daqing Oil Field pays great attention to energy conservation and consumption reduction. It makes effort and tries various energy-saving methods especially in aspect of pumping units. In the third oil plant, there are 3145 pumping units, of which the average system efficiency is 31.94%. Also, the application proportionate of energy-saving pumping units and distribution box is 79% and 92.75%. Energy-saving motor and distribution box have limited potential to further improve system rate of pumping units.

How to further improve the system rate of pumping units? This is a difficult problem for technicians to break through.

"Since 2013, we have conducted many researches and carefully analyze energy consumption point of pumping units. At that moment, we thought that speed reduction box also consumed a lot of energy, but we did not make any effort to this aspect. Just then, direct permanent magnetic composite motor came into our sight. Our team decided to cancel pumping unit and speed reduction box and use direct permanent magnetic composite motor, which further improved the effect of energy conservation.” Liu Hongyu says.

When everything is ready, technicians “perform an operation” on North 2-361-20 Well belonging to the second oil production crew of the third oil plant. They take down motor, speed reduction box, electric control panel, belt and brake and install direct permanent magnetic composite motor.

How’s the application effect of the “fighter” of motor when it first enter into field test? “When this well uses common motor, the day power consumption is 182kWh, but after installation of direct permanent magnetic motor , the day power consumption is only 148kWh. Comparing with common motor, its comprehensive energy-saving rate is 21.1%. It saves 23 Yuan everyday for electric charges and 4400Yuan in a year. It has more obvious energy-saving effect.” Liu Hongyu indicated.

It is understood that after transformation of the pumping units, not only do the oil plant save energy and reduce consumption, but they do not need to change lubricating oil for speed reduction box and belt. Meanwhile, breakdown of pumping units also reduces. The direct driving permanent magnetic motor does not need maintenance, which greatly reduces maintenance cost and workload. This year, they plan to transform 20 pumping unit well and will further inspect the situation after transformation, conclude test result and lay foundation to further promotion.
