Samarium cobalt magnets 2:17, also called Sm2Co17 magnets, are made of samarium, cobalt, copper, iron and zirconium in a certain mixing ratio, and through melting, smashing, pressing and sintering, becomes magnetic material. The maximum energy product of each grade is between 20-32MGOe. It max working temperature can reach 350°C. Due to low temperature coefficient and excellent corrosion resistance, its performance is better than that of neodymium permanent magnets under high temperature. It is widely applied to aerospace and aviation, military, high-temperature motor, car sensor, various kinds of magnetic transmission, magnetic pump and micro-wave components.

Because Sm2Co17 magnet is brittle, it is uneasy to be made into complicate shapes or thin sheet or ring. Also, it is easy to be chipped off, when it is processed, tested or magnetized. China Rare Earth Magnet Limited thinks as long as the damaged does not influenced magnetic performance or functions, it should be qualified products. In addition, users should be careful when they assemble the permanent magnet , avoiding absorption between two magnets or between magnets and iron material, which may cause magnet breaking. Sm2Co17 magnets are not easy to be fully magnetized. If users magnetize the magnets by themselves, they should fully understand how much the magnetic field of magnetization machine and choose suitable grade.
