Basic Information

Recently, UQM Technology Company declares that it launches a kind of permanent magnet motors without rare earth magnet . The motors are mainly designed and developed for electric cars and hybrid electric vehicles. Meanwhile, UQM Technology Company has been awarded a U.S patent of which number is 8928198 for the motors. This patent is called “Brushless PM Machine Construction Enabling Low Coercivity Magnets”. Also, the patent describes the geometrical shape of the magnet in the motor and introduces its manufacturing method.

Because magnets made of rare earth magnetic materials have high coercive force, currently many electric cars and hybrid electric vehicles use permanent magnet motors made of rare earth materials. UQM Technology Company promotes the permanent magnets motors without rare earth adopting magnetic materials, such as AlNiCo magnets or FeCoW, which enable the motors to acquire lower coercive force.
